MIAMI — Manuel Otero Barrenechea founded Inkateam Travel in 2014, after more than a decade in Lima's hospitality industry. This October, he's bringing the company to World Travel Expo Miami for the first time, with three original journeys built around transformational travel: trips designed to change the traveler, not just move them through Peru. The bet is simple — agencies don't need another full Peru catalog, they need a handful of trips worth selling hard.
“I didn't want to build another catalog of everything Peru has to offer,” Otero said. “I wanted three trips I'd send my own family on.”
The three concepts couldn't be more different from each other. Salkantay Life Challenge treats the trek itself as only half the journey — travelers arrive already changed, having spent weeks before departure preparing body and mind for five days at altitude, framing the summit less as a photo opportunity than as a personal reckoning. Andean Adventures refuses to stop at the ruins: after Machu Picchu, it moves into the living villages around Lake Titicaca, where the itinerary hands the day over to the people who actually live there. Peru Together lets a family split up on purpose — grandparents on a slower route, grandchildren on a harder one — and brings them back together each night, until the whole group stands, finally, at Machu Picchu together.
Otero still leads every group himself, working directly with the same trusted people on the ground instead of handing the trip off once it's sold. Inkateam Travel S.A.C. is registered with Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) as a Qualified Tourism Service Provider, and sells exclusively B2B, at NET rates shared privately with travel agencies, wholesalers and tour operators. Otero says the company is also open to representing select international partners' services in Peru — a door he'd like to see swing both ways.
Beyond the three signature trips, Inkateam runs 22 modular Classic Peru itineraries across Lima, Ica, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Lake Titicaca — bookable for a single traveler and combinable with each other or with the signature journeys.
Inkateam will be at WTE Miami 2026, October 27–28, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Travel professionals can request NET rates and a meeting through the company's landing page.
